In OCTOBER, we invited in kids of all ages to celebrate Mousetown, a delightful book telling the story of Mouse in a series of daily craft exercises designed to bring out the creativity in every kid. The authors of Mousetown - lifelong friends Margaret McCartney and Jodi Levine - read a section of the book and led the kids in making Teeny-Tiny Pictures and Frames from page 28 of the book.

And for HALLOWEEN, things got spooky with trick-or-treating and lots of candy, plus some great costumes captured in the photo booth we setup in the café. The inauguration of an annual tradition, this Uptown Kingston event sponsored by KUBA (Kingston Uptown Business Association) was a hit with folks from near and far!

FALL 2024

In SEPTEMBER, we welcomed artist Kristin Osterberg with a show of her distinctive, painterly canvases. With IN REPOSE, the gallery explored the tension between the personal and the nostalgic, the impersonal and the detached in Osterberg’s work. Her figures inhabit pockets of calm in time and space—even if the time is rush-hour and the space the NYC subway. Steeped in her Scandinavian heritage, she captures families and homes in ways that suggest a shadowy, slightly haunted setting, her arrangements stripping down everyday vignettes to their essentials. In oil compositions that verge on abstraction, she evokes and plays on the traditions of still life as well.

Also in SETPEMBER, Kingston Social hosted a fall-focused tasting from two of Sarah Copeland’s most recent best-selling cookbooks: Every Day is Saturday and Instant Family Meals. The acclaimed chef and cookbook author behind Edible Living discussed her personal & creative journey with Chef Annette Tomei, offering a sampling of recipes from her family’s Hungarian-American pantry.
