NEW WORK BY HELENA PALAZZI
This month in the gallery, we are very pleased to present a show of new work by our very own Helena Palazzi, each one evoking the quiet, unhurried journey of being carried along by forces beyond control, whether through time, emotion, or circumstance. DRIFTING captures the essence of a state in flux, where control is relinquished, and movement becomes a response to unseen currents.
SUBLIME (2024) by Helena Palazzi, 36” x 36” mixed media on canvas
The exhibition reflects those moments when life feels suspended, caught between where we have been and where we are going. It explores how the invisible forces of emotion, memory, and time shape and reshape us, often without conscious awareness. Through themes of transition and evolution, DRIFTING considers the forces, both internal and external, that carry us from one moment, one place, or one version of self to another. Layered compositions and nuanced textures mirror the way memories form and fade, how identity evolves, and how connections shift. Like the act of drifting itself, these works offer no fired destination, but instead explore the beauty and complexity of existing in the moment.
THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SERIES
Dreamlike landscapes blurred and layered, evoking a sense of drifting between time and space. Printed on translucent materials like vellum or acetate, these images are layered and suspended to create dimensionality.
THE PAINTING SERIES
The mixed media paintings in DRIFTING explore themes of change and movement. In using poured paint, a medium that flown and transforms unpredictably, the pieces reflect the fluidity of life’s transitions. Layers of different textures and mediums evoke the feeling of being carried by unseen forces. These works capture a balance between stability and impermanence, mirroring how experiences and memories continuously shape us over time.
